We were visiting my wife's family who live on a farm near Clifton, Tenn. and on this particular morning, I was scouting for bird images. On ahead of me, this Barred Owl was standing on the ground next to the road. I went over to see if it had been injured by a passing car but when I was within two or three feet, he flew up into the nearby tree. It turned out to be a perfect spot and the light couldn't have been better if it had been planned.
