It was springtime and I was watching the activity at the Heron Rookery in the James River Park in downtown Richmond, VA as this Great Blue Heron flew by. He was busy providing sticks to his mate for nest building. The female will accept or choose not to accept the stick that the male brings. I watched as several sticks were purposely dropped by the female.
