This image was taken during the 2009 Grandfather Mt. Nature Workshop and placed first in the Scenic Division. It was 6:15 AM, 05.30.09 and I was at about 6,000 ft, near the top of Grandfather Mt in N.C. The camera was pointed in an Easterly Direction toward the Blue Ridge Mountains. The light was changing quickly as this bird soared into view.
